I am a primary school teacher in a remote Aboriginal Community in The Northern Territory, Australia. The community has a pool that is open in the summer months but out students have little access to services such as ongoing swimming lessons… so this is usually the responsibility of classroom teachers like myself. For our students swimming is not just a fun activity; it provides relief form the extreme summer heat, and regular swimming helps reduce the impact of ongoing community health concerns such as respiratory infections and some skin infections. The Uswim program has been invaluable to me as an untrained ‘swimming teacher.’ The resources are uncomplicated and easy to understand, and the videos are an excellent help to me in understanding the skills I’m teaching.
My students and I are very grateful!
